Knotted pine is one of the most common materials used in the creation of chairs and other furniture. This beautiful and well-loved wood is distinctive for its large knots that give an item of furniture an old-world and sophisticated look. Its natural light color and ability to withstand different temperatures makes it a great choice for outdoor furniture. Knotted pine is an excellent choice for those looking for a more economical option for their outdoor Adirondack chairs and furniture. Although pine lacks the weather-resistant qualities of cedar, it performs well when sealed and maintained on a regular basis.
The product collections below are also available in knotted pine. Please view product details for photos and more information.
Our solid pine Adirondack chairs and outdoor furniture can be purchased untreated. This provides the option to custom stain or paint at home or purposefully leave the wood to age naturally for a rustic aged or grey patina look.
If you buy your chair from The Best Adirondack Chair Company, you can get your chair stained with SICO ProLuxe, one of the world’s best stains, as part of your purchase. This stain doesn’t blister, crack or peel, but still allows your chair to breathe while repelling water. During the process, we dip each piece of lumber used in the construction of your chair separately into a vat of the stain and then let it dry. After, we apply three layers of the stain, letting it dry between each layer and hand sanding it.
In addition, cleaning a pine Adirondack or Muskoka chair is easy! Just scrub it down with some soapy water and rinse it off, and then pat it dry. Please bear in mind that, if left untreated, pine Adirondack chairs are a little less weatherproof than some of our more durable lumbers. Every three years you should re-stain your wooden chairs to ensure maximum longevity, especially if you keep your furniture outside year-round.
